Puppy training and support

Puppies are adorable but they can also be a whirlwind crash landing into your life.

The internet is full of conflicting advice, so cut through the fog and speak to me directly so I can give you the advice and support you actually need.

Whether teaching the essentials for the best start, or tackling the bits that are harder than you expected, I'm here to guide you every step of the way.

Puppy Life Skills Private 6 Week Course

The Puppy Life Skills course is designed to set you and your puppy up to thrive in your new life together.

Setting important foundations, overcoming common puppy problems, teaching useful skills, preventing common problems from developing in later life, and helping you to understand and bond with eachother for the relationship you hoped for.

The course is based on the 10 core life skills developed at The University of Lincoln.

1. I have confidence

Appropriate socialisation and experiencing and being comfortable with novelty.

2. I can handle surprises

Shaking off a startle from something unexpected so it doesn't become a fear.

3. I like to be handled

Preparation for daily care and hygiene at home, vet visits, treatments and trips to the groomers.

4. I can handle not being able to do or have everything I want

Developing self-control and the ability to tolerate feeling frustrated.

5. I can be calm

Settling down on a blanket or bed for quiet time at home, when visiting friends or family, or when out and a about and it's time to pause and unwind (e.g. a trip to the pub garden!).

6. I understand your rules

Learning the boundaries you have and when they might change.

7. I can listen

Paying you attention, coming when called, pausing in one place when asked, dropping something they have in their mouth, and learning not to pick things up that you don't want them to have.

8. I have good manners

Asking for things politely, gentle greetings and walking on a loose lead.

9. I need help to make the right choices

Being supported when things are a bit tricky, setting them up for success, knowing their limits and rewarding them for making good choices so they are repeated.

10. I have the right to be a dog

Understanding your puppy's limits and natural behaviours while allowing their individual needs to be met within appropriate boundaries.

"I never get tired of the compliments we get."

"You worked absolute wonders with our beautiful girl! Your life skills for puppies class was vital to Luna's development. She's now nearly 17 months old & we're still reinforcing your lessons everyday but I never get tired of the compliments we get on how well behaved she is, how good her recall is & how lovely her lead walking is. All thanks to you."

"Wilko is now 2 years old and has turned into a really wonderful companion.”

"Wilko is now 2 years old and has turned into a really wonderful companion. He's well balanced and very friendly. My husband and I are so grateful for the wisdom you imparted to us 18 months ago. The opportunities you gave for Wilko to experience as wide a range of first encounters as possible stood him in good stead when he got a bit teenagey. He is really open to new places and sights and that is thanks to you.

Your kindness towards me when I was struggling to cope with a puppy will never be forgotten. Thank you so much."
